It's significant that this particular zoning dispute was over a desperately needed homeless shelter, which Barbara Johnson opposed.
Of course, some people believe that all who have housing problems are *bad people* and don't deserve a place to sleep. Barbara Johnson, her supporters, and whoever else are entitled to that belief. But I hope that our supposedly progressive new council members will look beyond their desire for good committee assignments and take a look at what sort of record and belief system they are supporting when they cast a vote for council president.
