Here are two related articles in today's StarTribune about Richfield's $48
million giveaway to Best Buy.

The Minneapolis/MCDA link:

The law firm representing the City of Richfield is Kennedy & Graven - hand
picked and trained by the MCDA.

Minneapolis (and Richfield) taxpayers have paid this law firm millions in
legal fees. What did we get in return? Lots of bad debts and much bigger
property tax bills. Wouldn't you think that our interests should be
protected since we are the ones who pay them? I guess not.

Interesting note: This law firm was formerly named Holmes & Graven. James
Holmes (former partner) wrote the TIF (Tax Increment Financing) law in
Minnesota. He is in private practice now. Wouldn't it be interesting to
see his "client" list?

Vicky Heller
St. Paul (specifically North Oaks)
Still a Minneapolis taxpayer though

Hope to meet some of you at the CityBall tonight!
