UPPER MISSISSIPPI RIVER CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO FORM

(MINNEAPOLIS) - A new 30-member Upper Mississippi River Citizens Advisory
Committee (CAC) is now forming. This broad-based group will play a unique
role in implementing the city's "Above the Falls" master plan, especially in
the areas of policy, funding allocation, project approval and
communications. The master plan area extends from Plymouth Avenue/8th Avenue
NE to the north city limits. CAC will begin meeting in April.

Initially, 20 members and 40 alternates will be selected. The 10
neighborhoods that border the river will each select one member and two
alternates. The business community will select five members and 10
alternates, as will the environmental community. These members will be
chosen by March 8. Ten more members will then be selected by the CAC.

Of the 30 members, 18 will be from the neighborhoods, six will be
environmental representatives and six will be business representatives.
There will also be two alternates for each member.

If you are interested in more information about the CAC and would like an
application, please call or e-mail Chuck Lutz at the Minneapolis Community
Development Agency, (612) 673-5196, or [EMAIL PROTECTED]

"Above the Falls" is available electronically on the City of Minneapolis Web
