In passing, I thought list members would be interested in this service, which is
administered the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches. This is from their most
recent e-mail newsletter:

HANDYWORKS RECRUITING WORKERS

With winter in full swing, HandyWorks is recruiting both paid and
volunteer workers to shovel snow for seniors living in Hennepin, Ramsey,
and Anoka counties.

HandyWorks helps seniors keep up their homes by matching them with
others who can help with housekeeping, minor home repairs, and outdoor
chores. Workers complete chores such as snow removal, lawn mowing,
appliance repair, window replacement, and housecleaning.

HandyWorks uses a network of both paid and volunteer workers but the
population of people who need help is increasing faster than workers can
be found. The end result is a growing waiting list of people who need
help. Paid chore workers earn $10 to $12 an hour.

"We would especially like to appeal to church youth and social justice
groups who may be looking for a valuable volunteer opportunity or a way
to raise cash for a special event or trip," said Katherine Panasuk,
HandyWorks director.

For more information, contact Katherine Panasuk at 612-721-8687, ext. 315.
