I like the idea of the building "going over the street." We have that kind of design in downtown already--it's called a skyway. Perhaps the planetarium and coffee shop, etc., could be on the north block, and the actual library on the site of the existing one, with a skyway connection between the two?
After all, isn't the new library going to be connected to the existing skyway system anyway? Think outside the block!
