I appreciate earlier list member posts who (correctly) made the point that the MNSCU threat is not specifically related to Minneapolis. Members keeping the list "on point" is a list-manager's dream, so thank you!
Michael Hohmann's post, below, does not identify unique Minneapolis impacts or city-based solutions. (Again, the mere fact that lots of Minneapolitans use MnSCU does not pass the test, since as the state's largest city, we have lots of people using almost every state service.) His post is better for our state-level discussion list, Minnesota-Politics-Discuss, which is at http://www.e-democracy.org/mn-politics/. Since Kathy Kosnoff appreciated my alternative suggestions on how to talk about her legitimate statewide concern on Minneapolis-Issues, I'll try to provide a couple of examples as guidance for Mike and others: How much of Minneapolis Public Schools' budget is adult education that overlaps MnSCU? If MnSCU is cut, would there be an increase in demand that would further press MPS? What pan-education-funding lobbying efforts does MPS engage in with MnSCU? What's the rationale for MPS lobbying - or not - with other parts of the education system? Just examples.
