I just wanted to correct some erroneous information that was reported in the Star Tribune this morning. "The mayor's report listed $1,000 in donations from Gerald VanAmerongen...."
This is not correct. The reporter misread the report and added two total-contributions-to-date columns. This is an important clarification, because such a contribution would exceed the legal limit by $500 (as noted in the story). Furthermore, if citizens were to misread the report in that manner, they could think there were over a dozen campaign finance law violations. I just wanted to prevent further misunderstanding.
