As I understand it, the recent increase in drug & sex trade at Bloomington & Lake is due to: 1) Increase in all crime nationwide since 9/11 2) Increase in crime due to unseasonably warm temperatures 3) Increase in crime due to Code 4 policies that have pushed crime from adjacent neighborhoods to B/L intersection. I have spoken with business owners at the intersection as well as members of the third precinct and I have been reassured that two beat cops WILL be added this spring to the Bloomington & Lake intersection, as soon as temperatures warm up (which appears sooner and sooner every day). I will continue to look for resources so that "beat cops" are more plentiful in the City of Lakes.
