One quick addition to this: in the next few months, we are expecting to
have about 6,000 historic photos from the Minneapolis Collection available
online. The project is currently about halfway complete. If it becomes
necessary to place the originals in storage, we should still have high-
quality scans available that will meet the needs of most persons. And of
course, making them searchable and viewable in our website should make
access more convenient for everyone.

> We hope to make much of the Minneapolis Collection available during the
> interim. However, they have about 120 file cabinets of newspaper clippings
> from the Times Morgue and also many cabinets full of photographs which it
> may be unrealistic to house in our interim location so that they can be
> accessible to the public. We hope to make the most requested materials
> available, and to provide staff access to materials that they might be able

> Collections and the Athenaeum will be stored in special climate-controlled
> storage so that there is no damage to them.

> In the next few months, Edward Kukla, who is the head of Special
> Collections, will be making more specific decisions on disposition of the

> I hope this helps.
