1) The Mpls Redistricting Commission met again last night
2) Still no media. Attendance by noncommissioner, nonstaff persons nearly nonexistent
(myself, Peter Wagenius-probably counts as staff as he is from the Mayor's office- and
two Republican gentlemen)
3) Commission adopted a retention schedule as presented by the City Clerk, with some
amendments which seemed reasonable in nature.
4) Commission moved to hire two staff for up to $10,000 each for staff services to the
commission including some basic GIS (City GIS staff to be used for tech support when
necessary)
5) Commission voted down a motion that all map-drawing be done at commission meetings,
although some members reserved the right to bring that back if it gets too crazy.
6) Commission did NOT select a chair - that is to be done Monday 3/4/02 at 6PM in Room
220 City Hall. Only four eligible resumes were submitted:
   Dana Badgerow
   Greg Wilmes
   Matthea Little Smith
   Nathae Richardson

More candidates appear to be desired (and necessary) GET THOSE RESUMES IN to Suzanne
Griffin at the Elections Division of the City (check the city redistricting web site
at ci.minneapolis.mn.us) or get a hold of your party's representative on the
commission, TODAY!
7) Long discussion of how the park board redistricting process interacts with the
council process. Seems as if council will be completed first, then the commission will
move on to the park board. Also discussion of timelines, enumeration provisions, and
the like.
8) next meeting Monday as mentioned above.
