Building additional homeless shelters in my
neighborhood does not meet a "not in my back yard"
response. It meets a "our back yard is full" response.

I just wish that all the people employed in the
shelter care industry would make an attempt to build
some of these homeless shelters in neighborhoods where
they live instead of consistently trying to make
empassioned pleas for why they should be concentrated
in my neighborhood.

So far, I have not seen one post, one letter, one news
article, or attended any meetings where this industry
was attempting to build these shelters anywhere in the
city other than Whittier and Phillips.

If there has been thoughtful discussion that has taken
place on this issue, I would love to see it or hear
it.

And......there are a few other places the homeless
sleep during the day. Fair Oaks Park, Peavey Park, bus
shelters, in our yards, cars, porches or garages
waiting to get into one of the variety of homeless
shelters located in our neighborhood.
