I believe the source of the 40-year claim about Joan Campbell's primary loss
was a post on this list from last fall:

I for one cited Tony's research in a Southeast Angle newspaper story last
October, using the phrase "in a nonpartisan primary" to qualify the claim.
The article probably should have made clear that didn't include 1973-1983.
