        I thoroughly believe it is next to impossible to acheive a successful 
wounding (limb) shot with a pistol.
I also believe it is quite easy to acheive this shot with a 12-gauge shotgun 
filled with #2 rubber coated buckshot. Simply aim below the knees. I cannot 
conceive how this would not be a totally disabaling but generally non-lethal 
shot.
    All squad cars currently carry shotguns.
