Three cheers for Attorney General Mike Hatch, for his good humor, and very balanced discussion on every subject. The property Rights meeting at the Eagles Club in South Minneapolis, he appeared at, as always, will be televised on channels 6 and 32.
We know Hatch wants to run for governor, he has wanted to do that for 15 years, nothing wrong with that, and I really was impressed that he would make a great Minnesota Governor.  I have generally liked Ventura, though he's fifty years old now and a little cantankerous.  I thought Carlson was a very good Governor but time marches on.
The meeting focused on the 'nonprofiteers'  who get all the wonderful treatment in the city and county, and who are busy sticking the money in their pockets, while the regular people who own a building or two are in continuous struggle to survive.
And before the outpouring of nonprofit anguish lets acknowledge the Lydia House thing, a cash cost to Plymouth Congregational church of $117,000 who picks up the property at $1.2 m then gets 4 or 5 million handed to them to remodel, they then take 10% or half million for developer fees, plus then month after month for lots of decades they got big income from the place.  They will loose all their churchly humility with this much money.
Dania Hall was brought up too, it being said that after spending 1.3 million the fire that burned it was no slow burning cigarette fire, it was fast and fierce flames throughout.
Attorney General Hatch gave bright and enlightening discussion of the AG duties and limitations.  It was interesting, at ease and very informative.
