Despite the fact that the spirit of NRP has been to help taylor city
services to the population, the library has resisted every effort by
citizens who use Hosmer to bring in money to support Hosmer. Every phony
problem has been trotted out repeatedly to delay, cancel, and hinder.
The MPL has even eaten costs associated with programming at Hosmer
rather than hold city employees accountable to deliver moneys granted to
Hosmer.
It is, however, necessary to say that the hindering did not come from
the staff assigned to oversee Hosmer (first Amy Ryan and then Ann
Christensen--both of whom are wonderfully supportive), but from upper,
upper management.
Hosmer has raised nearly half a million by itself in the midst of
obstruction by MPL. So I stand by my statement, MPL is delay lacking in
the grant writing area.
