Yes, sports are a part of our culture and, for that reason, I support the use of our tax dollars to provide playing fields for children and amateurs. I, however, object to spending tax dollars to support a profit-making operation like the Minnesota Twins. I see the purpose of public recreation facilities is to provide recreational opportunities for the regular citizens; whereas, I see the purpose of a new baseball stadium for the Twins would be to help the bottom line of an organization whose purpose is to generate profit for its owners. > The arts are a part of our culture. How may for-profit arts organizations are supported by our tax dollars? And which ones are they so I can begin lobbying to have their public financing halted?
