Those who did the shooting are not going to be allowed to answer. Police brass are going to answer and, of course, they are going to say the cops were following procedure which they most likely were. Even if the answer the cops were to give were, "Cause he scared the livin' dookie outta me," it wouldn't really give you the information you want.
You seem to be asking the dailies to do advocacy journalism. I don't believe they think that's their objective.
