Well, I haven't really seen the map yet and the one on David's site the pen lines depicting the lines is wide and covers the boundaries is not exact enough to see my house.. But the word is that my building and the street I live on is being divided out of the 6th into the 9th. When I lived over 1 block on Longfellow this area many moons ago in the 80's it was in the ninth. I can assure you that Mr. Scallon never paid one "damn" bit of attention to that small little leg of 2 1/2 blocks and now the line is going to go up and split Little Earth and take the park. Oh even more attention to the area - right!
And if Mr. Stafford and his group think it's cute to split Council member Zimmermann and I up that is one thing. But I am much more stressed out about LRT and development activities going on here in East Phillips. And although I treasure Council member Schiff's zoning and planning abilities and I know he will be very useful and helpful during the Master Station development activities around Hiawatha and Lake, we here on Cedar Corridor and Longfellow Avenue have been working with EPIC issues for a long, long time. I cannot believe my neighbors and I will cross the Hiawatha Great Divide and go over and participate either with Corcoran or Longfellow neighborhood organizations. We have been working on bringing housing to these little 2 1/2blocks with 5 new homes and tons of rehab going on. There is talk of the Cedar Corridor Beautification Plan. And Little Earth is working on Cedar Field and we all are working on East Phillips Park and the building of a multi-cultural community center for all the people in this corner of the world and monies have been raised for the third phase of a massive Little Earth rehab effort. We are on a roll. Breaking us up would be devastating. And what about our new neighborhood energy co-op to serve the Industries and East Phillips residences. The new map doesn't account for all this actual work that is being done - this particular little corner is a catastrophe waiting to happen if it gets moved into the ninth. Creative juices stymied, momentum nipped in progress and another no person's land created with no one to watch the store I don't care what Gary promises. We are in the middle of a "Dream Plan" that has been in the works since garbage transfer station struggle days - don't take it away from us at this point. And just as a side note I think it is really weird that Lisa Goodman gets all of downtown and the "old" 7th. Looks like she is amassing a lot the power brokers with money in the city into her little fiefdom. And leaving Natalie J-L out to dry are we? This is when it gets ugly folks - these next few days as everyone figures out where they live and who their new council member might be. Let the smoke and mirrors begin. I am not happy about this one little bit, Annie Young East Phillips 26th and Cedar _______________________________________ Minneapolis Issues Forum - A Civil City Civic Discussion - Mn E-Democracy Post messages to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subscribe, Unsubscribe, Digest option, and more: http://e-democracy.org/mpls
