here's some redistricting information. Please jump to the website below.

The NAACP, Minneapolis Urban League, Council on Black Minnesotans are
sponsoring a plan for the City of Minneapolis. The plan is presently being
supported by three members of the redistricting commission. We need the
commission to see that there is community support for the plan -- with the
intention of swaying at least two more votes. We can see victory on the
horizon but we MUST have community support. They have demonstrated that
they respond to community interest but people have to be present, be active
and be loud. Please take the time to send at least three emails to three
commission members (we would prefer you email all of them). The email links
can be found through the website.

Please review the plan and the information. If you support the idea of 7
minority opportunity districts (over 40% minority and 6 over 50%),
neighborhoods being kept together, compact wards, and little incumbency
protection you should really look at the map. If you like it -- tell the
commission. If you have questions please ask. The current plan endorsed by
the commission splits over 15 neighborhoods, creates very non-compact
districts and appears from the tortured configuration of the wards that the
primary concern of the commission was to protect incumbent city council
members.

This redistricting commission will decide what the wards in Minneapolis will
look like for the next ten years. This is really important. Please take
the time to review and email the commissioners.
