Bill Dooley writes:Is there a plan to start a reads one book initiative in Minneapolis?

Why, I ask? What is the attraction of everyone reading just one book, the same book?
It sounds desperate and Oprahish to me. Minneapolis is chock full of avid readers and
good writers. We can do better.

How about a "Minneapolis Reads Thousands of Books" program, in which each citizen who
participates chooses his or her own book, and then participates in a series of public
discussions about why he/she chose it, recommends it to others, and then reads someone
else's recommended book, discusses it, and so on?

Incidentally (uninhibited plug), I hope to finish my book soon, when my life quiets
down to a dull roar. I'd love it if everyone read mine! :)
