>I need to know more before I can make a judgement.

The Star Tribune graphic shows 8 lanes east of a re-opened Nicollet,
including two turnlanes, apparently narrowing to 4 as Lake reaches
Blaisdell. Here's what I don't know:

- How far East would the six through lanes extend? 4th? Portland? Hiawatha?
That makes a big difference to me.
- Do engineers suggest turn lanes for any other intersections? Which ones?
- How would the traffic load change on other exit/entrance streets - in
particular, what would be the net effect on the 38th - 35th/36th swap be?
- The flyover ramp for 28th seems to remain in place. How would
keeping/removing it from the plan affect traffic on Lake? On the 28th -
26th one ways?

On its face, eight lanes of traffic sound like a lot - but the goal of
getting Lake re-connected as a major commercial strip is a worthy
one. Increased access could drive economic activity smack in an area that
desperately needs it. That is, as long as Lake remains a "Main Street" and
doesn't turn into another Hiawatha.
