CAPITAL LONG-RANGE IMPROVEMENT COMMITTEE (CLIC)

Purpose:  The purpose of this committee is to make recommendations to
the City Council and Mayor on the five year capital improvement program.

Membership:  The Committee has 33 members (The Mayor appoints 7
at-large; Council appoints 26 - 2 per ward).  Members serve two-year
terms expiring January 31 of odd-numbered years.

Application Procedure:  Application forms may be obtained from the
Office of the City Clerk, Room 304, 350 Fifth Street South, Minneapolis,
MN 55415-1382 (612-673-3358).  Hearing impaired persons may call TDD
612-673-2626, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4:30 PM, or you may call
the Minnesota Relay Service at 1-800-627-3529 to reach any of the
numbers listed here. The application form is also available on the

Copies of completed applications are forwarded to Michael Abeln,
Director, Capital & Debt Management.  Copies of applications are also
provided to the Mayor and City Council Members.  Council Members
nominate residents of their wards for consideration by the Ways &
Means/Budget Committee for appointment by the City Council.  The Mayor's
appointments are made directly without City Council confirmation.

Information:  The main CLIC body meets approximately twice per month
from March through July.  Meetings occur on Tuesdays at noon in City
Hall and last approximately two hours, with additional meetings at call
by the chair.  For more information about this committee, call Michael

Vacancies: There is currently 1 vacancy on the committee for a member
who lives in the 11th Ward.  Applications must be received no later than
4:30 PM on Friday, May 17, 2002.
