NOTICE OF VACANCY
Minneapolis Charter Commission

Qualified voters of the City of Minneapolis are eligible to submit
applications for appointment to the Minneapolis Charter Commission.

The Chief Judge of Hennepin County District Court, the Honorable Kevin
Burke, will appoint two people, each serving a four-year term.

The Charter Commission may propose amendments to the Minneapolis City
Charter on its own initiative or at the request of the City Council.
Charter Commission meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each
month at 4:00 p.m.

Applications are available from the Office of the City Clerk, 304 City
Hall, 350 South 5th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55415-1382, telephone
673-3358, and from the City's web site at

Persons can apply on their own behalf, nominate other persons for
consideration, or request the Office of the City Clerk to provide
applications to other persons.  All applications will be forwarded to
the Chief Judge for consideration.  No persons may be appointed to more
than two successive terms as a commission member.

The deadline for applications is May 24, 2002.
