I have heard that the proposed buyout of Olson's
contract had become all the rage on conservative talk
radio programs in the area. I assume it's not often
that municipal issues this specific become fodder for
conservative radio talk show hosts in the area. While
the influence of this listserve on city policy
decisions has been questioned, we certainly represent
a more diverse cross section of the population than
conservative talk radio.

I've heard that several conservative radio talk show
hosts where urging their listeners to call their city
councilmembers to speak out against buying out Olson's
contract-even providing the numbers to call on the
air. Could such talk radio programs and their
audiences have had undue influence on our city
council's perception of public opinion?

Could someone who is a listener to conservative talk
radio confirm whether this issue was raised there over
the last couple of weeks?

I have not listened to conservative talk radio since
having a boss who played Patriot Radio all day every
day, loud and clear, in the office. I suffered
through repeats of Michael Savage's "Savage Nation" at
the beginning and end of my workdays.

Thanks, David Strand
Loring Park
