Niel Ritchie disclosed that he is involved in Scott Dibble's campaign and then went on to write :
"I just received my second piece of literature from his
opponent, Catherine Shreves.Conspicuously absent from
her piece was any mention of her affiliation with the
DFL party, from which I understand she is seeking an
endorsement."

Catherine responds:
That's simply not true, and it is unfortunate that Niel feels the need to post this type of negative, inflammatory rhetoric 2 weeks before the endorsing convention. To date, the campaign has been on the high ground, and I intend to keep it that way.

For the record, my literature notes that "Minnesota's proud tradition as a liberal progressive state is on the defensive" and that "Catherine doesn't just stand for Democratic values...she gets things done."  It doesn't mention my endorsement by the Minneapolis Building and Construction Trades Council, because the literature went to print before the endorsement was received.

Niel also mentioned that:
Earlier today I scanned a Progressive Minnesota
questionnaire Shreves filled out. One question asked
specifically about whether she would challenge a
DFL-endorsed opponent in the primary. Her answer was
guarded--"I do not intend to run against the dfl endorsement."

Catherine responds:
This reminds me of the story that when he was told the Russian ambassador had dropped dead at the Congress of Vienna, Prince Metternich asked "What can have been his motive?"

No underhanded motive, no guardedness intended. (Also no pun intended!) I have said that I will not be running against the DFL endorsement, and I have not changed my mind. So, no pledge abandoned.
