Actually from what I've heard from some reliable yet unrevealable sources it has much to do with the demographics and the level or perceived level of crime in the area. I do not happen to agree with this as being an acceptable reason for the closing, but it was not unexpected.
While convenient to have in the neighborhood, the quality and selection of food in the store has always ranked below that of the Hennepin and 24th store, and has been a disappointment because of how that seems to rank the citizen of this community. There are other great plans in line for that space, so it will not be just an abandoned lot, and I believe we'll see some much appreciated changes there and on the rest of the Nicollet corridor.
