 Hello Scott:

I'm Jeff Dehler with Northstar Corridor Development Authority.

I understand your frustration. Northstar is a worthy project that is
wanted by a majority of Minnesotans, but it is a political football
 now.

Keith says; I wish Jesse would stop the train until it is designed to serve
the needs of people who need to reverse commute. I wrote the piece below
before the bubble burst and the need for jobs in the hood trebled. Keith

"A commuter choo-choo is coming down the track across the River east of us.
It may be built to shuttle happy suburbanites into downtown in the morning
from Elk River and St. Cloud et. el. And back again to their snug homes in
the evening. How will it serve those of us who would like to sample job and
other opportunities out in the sticks? The answer will hinge on many issues,
one of them is where the stations will be placed along the path of this
train. Will they be reasonably accessible to people living north and south of
West Broadway at James or Penn or 4th St.?
It's a speed game friends cause if you can get way out there to some GOOD job
for a two or three dollar fare in 1 hour or less then you have got mobility.
Mobility can give you choices and choices are what freedom is about. But
wait!! We don't even have a METRO COUNCIL operated bus to take us from Penn
Ave. to Central Ave. where the train tracks are located. Hey Ted Mondale
(Chairman of the Metro Council), why are you trying to keep all these people
bottled up in the Hood and not have a reasonable chance to ride the rail to
prosperity? West Broadway is the main commercial artery of North Mpls. but we
can't ride a bus over the river and back to catch the freedom train at
Central av., cause there is no bus route for us. As usual our civic leaders
offer a blind eye or a hostile stare down when we try to hitch a ride out of
the hood to a better life.
