Shameless plug: I'm a member of the board of directors of the Hennepin History Museum (2303 3rd Ave S, www.hhmuseum.org) and I've been so happy to see the enthusiastic pursuit of Mpls history over the last couple of days. If you love local history like I do you should check out HHM and our quarterly publication, Hennepin History. You'll see lots of articles about neighborhood and city history, and back issues do include explanations of how streets (particularly the "first alphabet") got their names. We have a fabulous research archive too, which is a must-do if you are doing any research on your house or neighborhood (best real estate photo archive in town).   Kelly O'Brien Kingfield
