Hi All! I am something of a lawn care fanatic. Payed my way thru grade school and high school, and in those days I actually had to bag the grass!
Heather, it appears that you have been the unwilling recipient of a $50 windfall. Maybe they charge even more. I wouldn't know, as I just recycle my clippings and when I mow, I wear my dad's old steel-cleated golf shoes to areate my lawn. I have to confess that I use a power mower. Damned suburban estate is just too large to do with the old Scott's reel mower. Your basic problem is, that not only will your colorful dandilions and creeping charley might shrivel and die, but the darn grass will start growing like crazy, especially if it rains! Depending on the weather, I would guess that a manual push mower would need to be employed almost daily for the next few weeks. With an evil power mower, you might get away with mowing twice or thrice per week. Whatever you do, Heather, DON'T try to rinse the chemicals off! Since you are lucky enough to live in Minneapolis, there probably isn't any phosphorous in there, but God only knows what other nasty things will runoff into your street, hence to the storm sewer, then to the lakes and rivers and ultimately come back out your tap! I don't take any chances myself, beer is safe enough for me. Also, pray that it doesn't rain. You might have to mow twice a DAY! You might consider renting a leaf blower. Some can have the fan reversed and act as a kind of lawn vacuum cleaner. This would be the best way to remove what chemical you can, assuming that it was a dry appllication and not a spray. Other than that, sorry, but you are out of luck. Well, look at the bright side: at least your neighbors will be jealous of your green carpet. Cheers!
