Injured or orphaned wildlife, from squirrels to birds to "exotics" like baby 'possums, should be transported to the wonderful folks at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of Minnesota, a wildlife hospital located on St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota at 1946 Fitch Avenue. This independent nonprofit organization is run by a professional staff aided by students and volunteers who treat, rehabilitate, and release thousands of sick or injured creatures each year. I believe most of the students are in the University's veterinarian program getting some hands-on experience with urban wildlife. If you care, they'll even mail a postcard to let you know whether or not your "charge" survived its ordeal. All in all, an excellent program that relies on private donations to operate.
