I agree, we are not. That is a problem. "We do continue to expand the airport. As I write this new air freight facilities are being built on the west side of the airport and construction has begun on a new runway." It is my understanding, and as always I am willing to be corrected, that the new runway was being requested to accommodate NWA (And possibly other carriers) who needed a longer runway to get the 747's fully loaded with passengers, freight and fuel into the air. Currently these aircraft are not capable of being fully loaded for trans-Pacific flights. The construction of the new runway has required the removal of the air/ground cargo company buildings for the purposes of safety NOT for expansion of cargo services. I have also heard, by the way, that the Doubletree Hotel on 24th and 494 has to be demolished due to its height and proximity to the new runway. Anyone heard that too?
