Perhaps this is a question of perception, but I'm just not clear as to why city DFLers have to wear "Stonewall Hats" when attending Pride.
Regardless of whether Stonewall/Log Cabins are official affiliates or not, the way it looks to me is that both the DFL and the Rs have thusfar figured that their GLBT organizations could do all the work at Pride. Note: I am not talking about who personally attended. I've no doubt that Brian Melendez attends, and so do I. Plenty of local Republican candidates have attended as well, the most recent being Shirley Carleson with an entourage of T-shirt-clad volunteers. This is not the point. The point is that the party organizations themselves (DFL and R) have not been specifically visible - only through the screen of their respective GLBT groups, and that is now going to end.
