I guess that all depends on whether you think the risk
of kids and others dying of e. coli from improperly cooked
beef is acceptable or not. Besides, what's this "nuclear
food industry" nonsense? We don't refer to hospitals that
treat cancer patients with radiation therapy as "nuclear
medical industry facilities", do we?

I'd like to see this substantiated, since otherwise it
verges on slanderous.

Thanks. I'll make a point of dropping by and encouraging
them to keep serving good, healthy food in spite of the
scaremongering. "Nuke burgers", my butt.

Finally, some sound advice for burger lovers. High heat
and thorough cooking, that's the ticket.

You know, I don't have a gripe against organic food
producers or consumers - heck, some of it's pretty good.
However, I think trying to panic people and prey on their
ignorance of what irradiated food is all about is flat-out
wrong and damaging to honest workers and businessmen
who are just trying to make food safer for the average
consumer. If you don't want to eat irradiated meat, fine,
and I have no problem with requiring labels for it even, but
this sort of ignorant mob action is just wrong. I consider it
to be in the same category of people who want to stop the
gene-modified rice that could end scurvy and other vitamin
deficiency diseases throughout the Third World.
Minneapolis-specific: Anybody know any stores in the
Lake City that sell irradiated beef? I have a sudden urge
for a hamburger, medium-rare and irradiated.
