I agree that the city shouldn't be wasteful and/or indiscriminate in its destruction of existing buildings. But the Guthrie is not being torn down just because "somebody's bored with the architecture." The Guthrie theater is moving to bigger and better facilities on the river. And its existing space (shown to be non-viable in the absence of the theater group) will be redeveloped in such a way which not only allows for a huge expansion in the Minneapolis art scene, but also creates a new four-acre park.
