The historical tour event organized at the Wirth House
in Farmstead Park last Saturday was an incredible
success with over 500 people touring the house. I
visited late in the event so I missed Mayor Rybak's
opening remarks, but noted that the City Council and
Park Board had representatives there taking in the
obvious demonstration of public interest and support.

If anything, this should help the Park Board
understand the importance people place on our history.
Rather than continuing to subsidize their
private-sector tenant at below-market rental rates,
the Board should work in partnership with the Legacy
Society and the neighborhood to restore the home and
make it available to the public.
