The Minneapolis Parks Legacy Society Hosted and
incredible community event on June 22nd. Every
volunteer who helped 42 in all - should be thanked
with great enthusiasm. As the Park Board states in
their website volunteerism is critical to our
continued success in the parks and we certainly
emulated that on a beautiful summer day!
Our Picnic in the Park had numereous contributors -
Turtle Bread, Kowalski's, Adrian's (Root Beer) Paul
Ridgeway Events, Barton School and French Meadow
Bakery. We also want to thank the City of Minneapolis
for their support in the proclamation celebrating the
National Historic Register of the Theodore Wirth Home
and Administration Building. Mayor Rybak, Dan
Nicziolek and Scott Benson along with Commissioner
Vivian Mason were all very gracious in particiapting
in the ceremony. We are excited to hold more
events. A Winter Solstice would be great with sliding
and skating! The list is quite long requesting future
tours. Please watch your local newspapers and the
forum for future information.
