Actually, Minneapolis city officials DO decide on some abortion
issues, for example, when they are deciding on coverage in city workers
health benefits. It's been a common ploy of anti-abortion supporters to
try to exclude abortions from workers health care plans. Another tactic
has been to try to use city zoning codes to put excessive requirements on
clinics that offer abortion services.
So when a Minneapolis city candidate is from an anti-abortion
party, it is a relevant issue for many of us voters.
