The width of I-35W at 31st Street, including all eight
lanes and shoulders for both north and south bound
traffic is 138 feet.  The original proposal for Lake
Street expansion was 130 feet (from an approximate 68
feet existing width, which was later reduced to "only"
120 feet.  The prospect of changing Lake Street to
become either a 120 foot or 130 foot "freeway" is
hugely disturbing, especially since it is being
proposed in the vacuum of the Access Project. 
Minneapolis/Hennepin County is truly re-defining the
concept of "urban freeways", very sad commentary for
those of us who still choose to live in the city.
