http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/3040360.html This is what Lucky is saying: Rosenbloom's human-rights complaints appear to focus on the lowest levels of party politics. He says that a few long-entrenched party officers at the precinct levels in Minneapolis discourage people of color from even seeking endorsement for city and state legislative offices. EY: I was at the 61st district meeting where Lucky got endorsed. Lucky decided to run for the position at the last minute. Steve Braa, a long standing party activist, and 61 district chair was the other candidate. I have talked with African American conservatives in the Central Neighborhood, who are repelled by the "Black Republican Caucus" form of outreach -- they see it as patronizing. The Minneapolis City Republican Committee is a small group of very hard working and talented people who are trying to build the Republican party in Minneapolis. It is great that the Star Tribune did that nice article. Both Carleton Crawford and Connie Nompelis had great quotes. I hope this brings new interest and membership in the Minneapolis Republican Party. I don't see any efforts to keep black candidates from running in the Minneapolis Republican Party. There are efforts to get serious and effective candidates. When Lucky Rosenbloom campaigned against Gary Schiff, he did so by standing on Lake and Minnehaha in fatigues holding an American Flag. That type of campaigning makes a candidate seem a bit odd.
