Members: I want to emphasize that forwarding private, off-list messages is a violation of our rules. #3 states "No forwarding private messages to the list without permission of the author." - meaning the person who sent it, not the person who received it.
This rule is in place to keep inflammatory exchanges OFF the list. We can't, and don't want to regulate what members say to each other privately - I don't police off-list exchanges. But the rules reflect that such exchanges must remain private unless both parties agree.
