The most juvenile I've seen today is the Brian Rice - I'm going to take my
marbles and go home post. Mr. Rice starts his post with:

For anyone who has followed this issue with more than a modicum of
intelligence, they would know that the Park Board entered into a purchase
agreement with Moore Business Forms.

=============================
EY: In other words, the general public is too moronic to have a say in how
our taxpayer money is spent. I would have less problems with the Park
board, if members -- such as Annie Young -- would defend their choice here
on this forum, and answer directly the detailed criticisms of the Park
staff financial projections posted by Mike Hohman, Barbara Nelson and
others.

Rice continues:

I think Eva's last shot is typical of the rude, spiteful, cross, surly,
ill-mannered and generally unpleasant tone of the e-mails I've noticed on
this Forum. Par for the course! I know now why as a parent you are advised
to keep your children out of chat rooms. I'm sure the vast majority of the
members of the Forum are well-read, thoughtful Minneapolitans who take their
civic duties seriously. I have appreciated many of the comments both on line
and off line from people who were on both sides of this issue and I respect
both. I can see where this Forum can--in theory--be capable of providing
better connections and more direct information to expand the effusion of
knowledge. However, the issue that engaged me in the debate on this
Forum--the Park Board acquistion--has demonstrated the much less noble
aspect of this Forum. As evidenced by Eva Young's freewheeling snideness.
Just as I'm sure many participants in this Forum are well meaning and open
minded, I'm sure that could be said of all chat rooms.

====================
EY: Well read the letters to the editor in the Strib on this subject.
Most letters are critical of the Park Board on this. List Member Karen
Forbes has been working on a tree planting project in Central. She needs
some help from her Park Board commissioner, Marie Hauser. Calls don't get
returned. She got an outdated list of tree locations from "Ralph" who
works for the parks. Despite repeated calls, she still hasn't gotten an
updated list. When she calls CM Lilligren's office, her call gets put into
the infamous "pile". I'm still not sure what happens with that pile.

And if Mr. Rice is comparing this list to a chatroom, he ought to visit
some of the AOL chatrooms. Most of what goes on in many of those is sexual
comeons and rather moronic conversation. And yes, kids shouldn't be going
into those -- because there are sexual predators there. However I think
kids should be exposed to political dialog. How are kids supposed to grow
up, and take an interest in government and politics if they don't
participate in politics when they are kids?

Dee Long's question to the list about Parking -- and why Park Board
employees get free parking as part of their job has also been left
unanswered by Rice and other park board people on this list.

And as far as that goes, when someone takes leave by saying -- bye bye, all
of you, you are just a bunch of morons, I really can't blame one of the
other noble freethinkers on this list telling Rice to not "let the door hit
you on the butt on the way out."

I got a good laugh out of Paul Kuettle's posts. They remind me of when he
wrote a song for John Birrenbach's (aka Hemp John) demo against Jesse
Ventura.
