While I can sit here nicely and rise above the fray on getting money from the Park Board lawyer for campaigns, I want to leave that subject alone as written in the Southwest Journal this week.
What I do want to say though is that above and beyond the improprieties that this looks like I cannot tell you how hard and committed Brian is to helping the Park Board. He is a legislative genius. It runs in his blood. He knows the history and antics (both good and bad) of Boards for years and years. Although this all looks very ugly - believe even me - Brian knows his stuff when it comes to getting Park Board issues through the legislature. And without his money, he and I have a relationship that is truly a friendship above and beyond work. Both Phyllis and Fran's notes are just small indicators of the hard work Brian has done for the Park Board over the years. And just as a side note - on the campaign finance reform issues. When I got on the Park Board years ago there wasn't a Marty law and there wasn't a lot of concern about how the politicians got bought off here and there like we have these days. Even I partook in some of those very fancy dinners with very expensive wines and fancy entertainment when trips were taken or we were hosting guests in town. Those were the days - it was fun and it was ugly and it was unethical.
