Oh my goodness. You are so right! I have been
complaining to my friends for years about all the tax-advantaged property.
How many churches are downtown for one thing; I think downtown property taxes
would bring in significant dollars. I am not advocating tearing down any
churches.
However, this should be put in context when we simply "give
away" property. For example, all that St. Thomas college property..I bet
it is tax-advantaged one way or another; I could be wrong on that.
Nonetheless, was anyone thinking a couple years ago when we gave fabulous real
estate to the Fed for a darn bank none of us can open an account
at?
Prestige? Forget it.
