Elliot Park contains a significantly high number of
"affordable housing" units already.

Most of the development in Elliot Park in the last
decade or longer has concentrated on affordable,
subsidized and special needs housing.

Grant Park brings some balance to Elliot Park. It
provides an economic base that will help build Elliot
Parks economy. Creating a balance in the inner-city
neighborhoods that have been traditionally ports of
concentration for people who are poor or require
living assistance is a good thing. Currently, Elliot
Park has no grocery store and has very limited options
for eating out. The neighborhood is told that there is
no economic base to support this type of development
and they have struggled to attract retail business
into the neighborhood.

The creation of East Village has helped a great deal.
Grant Park will help a great deal more.

I hope Elliot Park sees more development projects like
Grant Park. In addition to Elliot Park, it adds a
bigger tax base to the city. Right now, Minneapolis
could use a broader tax base. I hope this kind of
development continues to grow and that it can survive.
