We hate to blow our own horn, but since it's the only horn we have and no one else seems to be using it, is it possible that there is an alternative weekly newspaper that does write edgy features about local stuff? In the last two months Pulse of the Twin Cities (Your locally grown alternative newspaper) has done cover stories on "The Sorry State of off-campus housing at the U of M;" making art by the disabled at Interact Center; "The Race for the Cure" (an analysis of the breast cancer industry and how it tries to divert attention from the environmental causes of breast cancer); the sad history of the fall of Grain Belt beer; a local reporter now in Hong Kong writing on protest and resistance remembering Tiananmen Square; and "Who protects us from the police?" (an analysis of the redesign of the Civilian Review Authority). Is that edgy enough for you? Please, we exist. We're not going away. We have more than 50,000 readers every week. We're part of their frame of reference. We'd like to be part of yours. Ed Felien, Publisher
