List,

Earlier on this list I wrote that I felt CM Beirnet had a moral
responsibility to resign if he knew he had violated the public trust.
Clearly there is an increasing amount of evidence that he has violated
the public trust. Independent of the legal process of what is
admissible, and whose lawyer is a better dancer -- the public trust has
clearly been violated.

The longer that CM Beirnet holds onto his job the greater the crime
against his constituents and the city become. If he does not resign in
time for his constituents to determine a new candidate in the up coming
election then as a community we will run into the conundrum of the new
council district.

CM Beirnet's inability to do the honorable thing and resign, and the
lack of pressure from other council members and the mayor will force an
unfortunate and costly situation where all council members will have to
run for election in new wards next year. One of the negative
consequences of this will be that the mayor and council elections will
alternate, leaving council members to run for mayor without having to
risk the loss of the council seat.

I hope that this Star Tribune article will be the event that reawakens
the moral fiber in CM Beirnet's soul and we all can read the story of
his resignation in Monday's paper.
