Kudos to the Mayor and City Council for yesterdays unanimous vote to eliminate the city licensing boards that formerly certified which plumbers, pipe fitters, masons, cement workers, plasterers and drywall installers, and sign hangers could work in the city. Certification will now be based on objective state and other standardized tests. This action should result in more skilled trades people being available to do work in the city; quicker bids and more competitive prices.
