A few years ago, didn't the city of Minneapolis check into banning or
placing special regulations on pitbulls? As I recall, it was determined that
these types of laws would be on very questionable legal grounds, and would most
likely not hold up in court. I think one problem was the wording of the
definition of a pitbull. There would be too many 'pitbull-like' dogs in the
population that would be too difficult to determine definitively as 'pitbull'
or 'non-pitbull'.

In agreement with Robert, I am certain that pitbulls can be raised in
a loving manner, and would be nice, peaceful, friendly dogs. Having said that,
however, I would add that in general terms, different breeds are more prone to
become proficient in different types of activities. Selective breeding has been
practiced with dogs for many centuries. Some breeds are, in general, much
easier to train as say retrievers, seeing eye dogs, sheep herders, etc.
Pitbulls have been selectively bred to be tough fighters. People may have the
perfect legal right to own a pitbull if they so desire, however personally, I
do not like the breed.

pitbulls)
