I am angered and disappointed, but not surprised, that the park board has proceeded with the purchase of the riverfront property. I am quite sure that we will all be paying for it for years to come. I would like to offer my kudos to Mr. Hohmann and Mr. Keuttel for their excellent posts.
I have to admit that I have largely ignored the park board in past elections. Not any longer. I have an extremely long memory and promise to take a far more active role in future elections. In the mean time, I am going to continue to investigate the park board and how they are spending (wasting?) our tax dollars. I have no inherent objection to paying taxes and am more than willing to pay my fair share. I do believe however, that there is a moral obligation to spend tax dollars in an efficient, effective, and transparent manner.
