I would like to know who brokered the deal on the park board's new palace and who will
be in line to do the rehab work. Are they taking bids? And if so, what will they do,
take the highest bid? Follow the money.

Also-- I was at Minnehaha Park yesterday with my family. While walking back from the
river gorge, we ran across a couple and their little girl. They were playing on the
run-down, rusting, sorry-excuse for a playground, and we started chatting.

Turns out they were from South Dakota, visiting. Anyway, they couldn't believe what an
incredible park we had, but couldn't understand why we didn't take better care of it.
They mentioned the old, dangerous (their daughter had cut her hand on a piece of
equipment)playground, the severe lack of waste containers, and the broken glass
covering most of the stairways leading to the lower meadows and the falls.
They thought it was such a pity. Plus they were pissed about their daughter's cut.

I explained the park board's priorities and was filled with an immense rush of pride.
